About

My name is Kristian Kahrs, and I am the man behind Serbtrade.no. With great experience from the Balkans as a foreign journalist, I have realized that journalism is not enough for what I want to achieve in Serbia. Therefore, I have changed direction and now work as a business adviser connecting Serbian and Norwegian markets.

My goal and vision is that Serbia once more becomes the industrial and economic engine in the Balkans. When Norwegians hear about Serbia, they will most likely think about Slobodan Miloševic, Ratko Mladic or the political unrest in Kosovo, but I would like to change this view to include Serbia as reliable industrial partners.

What can serbtrade.no – Kristian Kahrs offer?

  • Consultancy for Norwegian companies with an interest in the Serbian market.
  • With good connections in Serbian politics, business and society, I can offer useful contacts.
  • Speaking good enough Serbian to conduct business talks
  • Knowledge of the needs in the different industrial clusters in Serbia
  • As the former editor-in-chief of Norway Exports, I have a good overview of the needs in the professional clusters in Norway.
  • Consultancy for Serbian companies who want to enter the Norwegian market.

I think there is great potential for companies to produce in Serbia, and therefore, let me give three reasons for investing in this area:

  • Taking advantage of the proud industrial traditions, the Serbian labor force is very well qualified, especially in the field of metal construction. Serbian engineers also have a very good reputation around the world.
  • The Serbian labor force has a very competitive price. A skilled worker earns between 370-400 Euro per month while engineers earn between 450 to 800 Euro per month. In addition to this, the employer would have to pay 62 % in governmental taxes and social expenses.
  • The Serbian labor force is very well motivated to work, and it can be trusted.

Here there will be more information about me, Kristian Kahrs, but I have to learn how to make submenus in WordPress.

In the meantime, here are some of the things from my old page:
